This is how we roll with the LPCs

It's Saturday night in Beirut and Faysal told us to be prepared for another fun night, Beirut style. LA, NY, SF & MIA have nothing on what i've experienced in Beirut. First, let me talk about the cars. I forgot to mention that every time I get picked up from the hotel, it's in some serious wheels for a third world country. Everyone stops and stares as we get in to a 2011 CL Mercedes with every option imaginable. Let me also mention that last night we were picked up in a Porsche Cayenne by the same girl, Rasha. Apparently she drives the car that best suits her mood for the evening. Rasha is Faysal's cousin who rolls in high fashion and is your very typical LPC.

My definition of LPC = Lebanese Plastic Chicks. It came to me as I looked around at the plethora of silicon. Every where I looked was plastic. From plastic faces to plastic bodies; i've never felt so real in my entire life. Again, the status of getting work done is a positive one here in Lebanon and the LPC's are loud and proud of what operations they have had. There was some serious MJ noses on these girls and I had to force myself not to stare!

We rolled up to the foot of the door at Palais nightclub and the red carpet was pulled out for us. Heads turned to stare at us as Faysal, Rasha, Dina & I exited the car. Without a question asked, Faysal greeted the doorman and we were escorted to the best table in the club. Faysal cautioned me that tonight was going to be very upscale as we would have a Lebanese singer hanging at our table, Dominique Hurani. I got excited but could not place who she was or how I knew that name initially. Regardless, Dina and I decided to go big tonight in appearance and dolled up for the occasion. I pulled out my Givenchy dress while Dina wore her fierce All-Saints dress and looked stunning!

Upon entering the club I did a quick scan of my surroundings. The perfect description is: Old Vintage Hollywood. The crystal chandeliers and vintage photos of world wide pop stars like Michael Jackson & Madonna instantly struck a positive chord within me and I knew this place was cool. It was here that I created the new acronym, LPC. There were a lot of LPC's tonight, starting within our group. We had an eclectic group. Faysal's friends Mofeed & Hassan acted as hosts while Nadine, Carla, Dominique, Dina, Rasha and I were their guests. Again, the Arab men watch over their girls from beginning to end to ensure that the women are well taken care of. Our guys were getting a little frustrated with the body guards as they were hovering over us. Yes, I did say body guards. Dominique rolled through with 3 body guards that stood firm around our table. People were staring at our "IT" table, no big deal since this is how we rolled in Beirut.

Dominique looked way better on TV & in pictures than in person. In person the plastic is far too apparent for my liking. When I met her, I realized she looked very familiar and decided I needed to humble the girl for a bit since she clearly thought the world of herself. I was dancing with her and finally leaned and told her she looked oddly familiar but I couldn't place where I would know her from. This LPC looked at me and was for sure thinking: "What? You don't know who I am?" She told me I may have seen her on TV as she is a singer, but I still acted surprised like I wasn't sure what she sang. I asked her to tell me her famous songs so I could figure it out. Home girl got a bit annoyed and then finally told me that she sings Atris. Internally I got STOKED because my mother loves that song and I know that video all too well from watching it on ART. I told her that and I made her night. An American knows who she is and loves her song. We struck up a bit of a 'friendship'. None of the LPC's really want to be your friends but she definitely softened up after this. She actually decided to take the group and go to another club called Casino. Some were opposed but it was Dominique's request so it was granted without questioning. What the crew did not know was I had just finished asking Dominique where we could go to hear arabic music, specially her music as opposed to the American jams playing here. Next thing I know, we're heading out. Casino is a live music arabic club. When we arrived, they got us a prime table and asked Dominique to do a special performance, which she instantly agreed to. I was dancing the night away right next to her as she was performing. I had others in the club ask if I could hook them up with a picture or an intro but I could do no such thing! :)

Just when I thought the night could not get any crazier, my transportation back to the Phoenicia Hotel left me wide eyed. Mofeed offers to take Dina and I back since he lives 2 minutes from our hotel and out of valet comes the most beautiful 2 door Bentley that I have ever seen. It was a sleek shiny charcoal with beige leather interior; beautiful. I got into the front passenger's seat with a huge grin as I soaked in the short car ride to end the night.

And this is how we roll, Beirut Style...
